Fall brings football, and with it the prospect of spending hours watching your favorite team absolutely blow it. Mathias has become acquainted with the new reality of Notre Dame football at an early age.
Here he and dad model the 2010 shirts (thoughtfully picked up by mom) before watching the Irish fall short against Michigan. (They’re one of three teams, along with Miami and USC, that James’ Uncle Frank told him it was ok to boo ages ago.)
In addition to hanging around the living room with dad for a couple games, Mathias has also been in to South Bend to tailgate at Uncle Mike’s for the Purdue and Western Michigan games. We had lots of fun (and the team even won those two…maybe he’s a good luck charm).

Keep bringing the little lucky charm to the tailgates.
He has no choice–his great-grandpa, grandma and dad are all alums!
he looks so cute in that little shirt!
It’ll probably fit him in a month!
