Six Months Old

Lillian turned six months old last Friday, which means we only have six more before her first birthday! She’s been really active lately; she loves to sit, roll over and reach for objects out of arms-length. There’s lots of laughter and yelling (generally both mixed together).

We decided to take advantage of her being gussied up for the Oscars to snap this six-month shot. No word on how she felt about Best Picture going to Argo.

Snow Day

Chicago got a bit of snow yesterday, which had the happy side effect of James getting to leave work at 2 p.m.—just enough time to build a snowman with Mathias in the backyard!

Five Months Old

Lori had Lillian pose in her Storm T-shirt (courtesy of James) on some X-Men back issues (also courtesy of James) for her five-month shot!

Our little mutant is still a cheerful baby, although a lot of drooling and a little fussiness indicates she may break her brother’s 12-month mark for getting teeth. She’s eating some rice cereal now, and she’s also getting good at sitting up…if someone gives her a little support.

Lillian Laughing

Some play in our apartment tonight…it’s all fun and games until Mathias spills the wine! (You can see on the couch that Lillian had her own spit-up accident earlier.)

Four Months Old

We’re still catching up on our holiday updates, but this photo is too cute not to share! Lillian turned 4 months old on January 1 (which she spent with her oma, who came up from Florida to babysit for us). As the picture shows, she’s a very happy little girl. She hasn’t rolled over yet, but there’s a lot of flexing and stretching going on. As grandpa puts it, “She’s a wiggleworm!”

Hanging Out at Home

A couple shots from tonight at our apartment.

Hipster baby alert: Lillian in her Alligator records shirt and skinny jeans. (Also, Lori just noticed that she’s flicking us off…) Thanks to our friend Kevin for the awesome shirt!

Mathias sleeps with his new favorite toy from the Target dollar bin, “Daniel Tiger.”

Finally, here’s a video of Mathias trying on his mama’s boots. (That sounds like a country song, but not one Merle Haggard would necessarily sing.)

Happy Thanksgiving

After a good stretch of visiting Florida for turkey day, we decided to stay in Chicago for Thanksgiving this year. But we still had plenty of family fun, as Lori’s family came in to visit us!

Despite the wall of fog that descended on the city Wednesday morning, everyone made it in (although Lori’s parents landed about 10 hours later than they expected to). We were able to meet Dave’s lovely new wife Josselyn on Wednesday, which was fun.

Thursday was the big meal, which Lori spent hours making delicious. Her grandmother and Aunt Jeanette were able to join us some in the morning, which gave us four generations of Sichtermanns in one room.

Everyone’s there! Well, except Lillian, who’s snoozing on the floor.

Lori’s brother helped with the stuffing.

Friday the Sichtermanns had lunch at the Walnut Room at Macy’s. (James, accurately gauging his tolerance for Black Friday in the Loop, decided to sit that one out.) All in all, it was a great time!

Mathias didn’t have much attention for the fairy roaming the Walnut Room.

See all the Sichtermann Thanksgiving photos here!

Two Months

Lillian turned two months old on November 1, and she’s happily graduated from a tiny little newborn to a sturdy, sleeping through the night baby. Lori took her in for her two-month appointment last week, and our little girl weighed in at 12 pounds, 2 ounces and stretched out to 24 inches. (That last one is 95th percentile for height–we have some tall kids apparently!)

Two months old!

She’s been such a good baby for us. She has a mellow temperament, only turning up the fuss when we’re too pokey getting a bottle her way. (She usually gives us fair warning before starting the cries.) Here’s a video of her gurgling for mom.

Also, to give Mathias some face time, here he is with his first big-boy puzzle. He sort of mostly completed it on his own…

Posing proud.

Happy Halloween!

Ours was pretty quiet this year, but we did make it out the Sunday before for a bout of trick-or-treating in a nearby business district. It was chilly, so we just left Lillian in warm clothes, but the three of us dressed up as the Simpsons again! People seemed to like our get-ups, especially Lori’s. A few snapped sly photos of her bouffant as they gathered candy.

We went trick-or-treating with the Kellys; Eamonn dressed up as a dinosaur while Angela was a little ladybug.

Second-child problems–no one notices when a candy bag is in front of your face…

Mathias started a little slow but eventually had a lot of fun approaching strangers for candy. (Hopefully that doesn’t stick!) Lori says there was a point about halfway through the walk when it fully clicked that the other kids were wearing costumes; maybe he just thought he was rocking a strange hat.
